Fallout Over Senator Reid's Comments

According to the new book “Game Change” by Mark Halperin and John Heilmann, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid remarked privately during the 2008 presidential primaries that Barack Obama had impressive oratorical gifts and that Obama was a “light-skinned” African American “with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one.” Reid apologized over the weekend, and the President accepted it, saying the “book is closed” on the subject, while GOP Chairman Michael Steele has called for Reid to resign.

Today our contributors discuss if they believe Senator Reid's comments were racist, and if he should resign. After reading what Roseanne, Art, Patrick, Sasha, Ryan, and Jeff think about this topic, join the conversation by leaving a comment.
