I have no thoughts on Robertson’s comments. They are not worthy of any thoughts -- not a sarcastic comment, not an indignant rant, not even an indulgent chuckle. Someone needs to let him know that the only reason the media continue to report his remarks widely is so the rest of the United States can laugh at him. Again.
I suppose it’s too much to hope that anyone who still believes in Robertson is going to give him up after seeing evidence of how few of the rest of us regard him as a credible human being. Heaven knows they have had plenty of opportunities in the past. This is the man who claimed to have had combat experience with the Marines in Korea when he ran for President in 1988, but was later reported to have been a “liquor officer” who kept officers’ clubs supplied with alcohol in Japan. This is the man who wanted to do away the federal Departments of Education and Energy. This is the man whose book, New World Order, claimed knowledge of a world conspiracy working through Freemasonry, the Illuminati, and Jewish bankers. This is the man who had Jerry Falwell as a guest on his show, The 700 Club, when Falwell said of the 9/11 attacks: “I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People For the American Way, all of them who have tried to secularize America. I point the finger in their face and say ‘you helped this happen.’ ” And Robertson agreed.
Pat Robertson is a not a theologian, a religious leader, or even a good man. Robertson is an evil clown.
