Okay! Well i'm not going to lie, this is a sticky one. I mean she is a teachers aide and there is a certain behavioral expectations right! Teachers for some reasons are always viewed as saints. Unfortunately, teachers are not perfect either so if the school district and board lost that memo here it is again: People make mistakes, and young people make even more mistakes. Let's not forget that she's probably under paid and struggling to pay back her college loans. Well, I'm not sure if teachers aide's have loans but either way... I'm sure it's barely a living wage salary.
So.. we know she can afford a cell phone and took some pictures on it of herself. What's wrong with that? Of course we have some missing information. Did she release the photos or did a student steal her phone? I don't know but if a student stole her phone, than I don't think she should be the only one being asked to leave the school. I think it's no different than if personal files were stolen. Our files nowadays are almost all electronic. It's going to become more and more common for people's private information to get out to the public. I'm not saying it's right but I'm saying it will be more common than not.
If I was an administrator on this school board, I would suggest that she be placed in a different school. Especially, if the investigation finds that a student was responsible for the release. I do agree with the school board that the student body will have a hard time finding this teacher credible. Being asked to transfer is reasonable, but being asked to leave her job is not. Let me remind you that I'm speaking as a resident of the city of Atlanta which has pretty low educational standards and teachers and school board officials who have done much worse than take a picture on their own personal phone. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
