Full Body Screening: Shaun Haulty

Upon seeing the example images, I fought of a coordinated wave of intrigue, disgust, excitement, and finally curiosity. If this machine sees through clothing, what's to stop it from seeing through the terrorists' rebuttal: The Handkerchief Bomb? (please note: this is a punchline, not a press release about new weaponry) There is one reality we all need to embrace: The world is full of danger, people, and smart, dangerous people. There will always be someone to one-up security, then we'll keep going back and forth.

There is very little stopping you from being stabbed at the grocery store. Heck, most even sell knives right there. Your car could be hit by a kamikaze bus driver. There is no limit to the number of dangers you encounter when you leave your bed. (I'll be nice and not list "The Dangers of Being in Bed.") It's no wonder, then, that when we board an aircraft, we accept a little risk into our lives and get on with it. Rest assured that our increases in security only increase the terrorists passion and intuition for destruction.

I say, no scanners. There would be be 100 ways to beat them in a month. If we're really concerned, let's pat people down, search everyone's luggage, and let a dog sniff all the bags. It'll create more jobs, and we'll all avoid the extra radiation that more machines and more power will create. More people die from lung cancer and drunk driving accidents than from terrorist attacks. So let's stop smoking and drinking, then we'll worry about looking at naked aliens at the airport.
