Sasha Reviews The People's Choice Awards

The People's Choice Awards were on Wednesday night. I've decided to take the award show beat on AmericanCurrents.com and hope to cover as many award shows as possible. Now, most of you probably didn't know the PCA's were on Wednesday night. There wasn't much advertising for the show and to be honest it wasn't that great. The host, Queen Latifah, did an excellent job for the fourth year in a row and was representing for us thick chicks well. I was talking to my best friend in Boston Wednesday night who said that Queen Latifah was basically the only presenter last year and announced all the winners. In any case, some major noticeable similarities from last year was the the Twilight gang raking in the trophies. Who knew America loved vampires and gore so much? It's sad but I had to ask my bff who Kellan Lutz was.

The theme for me throughout this whole program was: Who are these people and what is this show? I mean I always thought I was up on pop culture but the People's Choice Awards reminded me that you can never know enough pop culture. I have been really busy at work the past couple of years so I guess I'm a little out of touch. I haven't seen not a one Twilight movie and couldn't identify the Boys Like Girls band members if they walked right in front of me. I did enjoy their performance though since I do hear their song on the radio on the way to work everyday.

Things that were recognizable: Jessica Alba in a fabulous dress, who won my Sasha Fierce's best dress award, presenting Ashton Kutcher for the Favorite Web Celeb. (If your not on Twitter, he tweets his *ss off and would stream live every minute of the day if possible.) Kutcher was also presenting a recurring message throughout the program about safe drinking water. The People's Choice Awards did impress me with their public charitable partnership with Children Safe Drinking Water. The celebs were talking about their contributions to the cause and letting viewers know what safe drinking water for underprivileged could do and how we could all help. It was rather touching and unexpected. But the live Digiorno Pizza ads and pizza delivery to the audience members as a live commercial in the middle of the program was very American. I'm sure Digiorno paid big bucks to make that happen and I guess they are now America's favorite pizza maker.

Johnny Depp won Actor of the Decade and Taylor Swift won Female Artist of the Year. All in all, I'm the only person I know who watched the awards and you didn't miss a thing.  If you want to check out all the winners here.
