Fear of Flying?

On Christmas Day, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab (pictured), a 23 year old Nigerian man who claims to have ties with al-Qaida attempted to blow up a Northwest Airlines plane en route from Amerstam to Detroit.  When his explosive device apparently malfunctioned, Abdulmutallab was subdued by passengers and crew members.  Abdulmutallab's father had warned US officials in November that his son had become radicalized by Islamic militants in Yemen, however he possessed a multi entry visa to the United Sates and had no problem boarding a U.S. bound plane in Amsterdam with an explosive device in his underwear.

We asked our contributors if they feel less safe about air travel since the attempted attack and if it would make them consider changing travel plans.

Today we welcome Ryan Allen as a full time contributor after filling in for us several times. Ryan, Art, and Sasha share their thoughts on this topic along with guest blogger Roseanne Frangione, who is filling in for Jeff this week. After reading their thoughts, join the conversation by leaving a comment.
