Would an Independent President Mend the Partisan Divide? Sasha Smith

An Independent would be ideal as a President. It's ideal because it is bipartisan for the most part. This is ideal for a someone going into the new presidency. Obama making a change to Independent would be rather interesting. I have no idea how the American people would react or even how American politicians would deal with it. I have a feeling that folks here in Atlanta wouldn't go for it. I think people want you to chose a side at the end of the day. I'm not saying it's right or wrong I'm just describing our culture as I see it.

At this point in Obama's first term, I don't think it will make a difference in the polls or how people feel about him. The infamous saying, action speak louder than words. Obama's actions are important now more than ever. Our country and government is split right down the middle and I personally am looking to my fearless leader to bring us all back to the middle. Being the American President is probably one of the hardest jobs in the world but I have faith he was voted in because he can do the job. It will be critical for Obama and his cabinet to spend the next year working really hard to alleviate some of the tensions our country is going through.

I never vote on a President based on what party he is apart of. I always vote on the person who I think can do the best job. I think many people do that and that we will eventually move away from party lines. It hasn't gotten us anywhere in the past so there might be a future without them.
